Sun Changing Vinyl Metal Wine Glasses

Personalize metal wine glasses using sun changing vinyl from StyleTechCraft. In the sun the vinyl turns from white to blue, pink & purple.

If you have read my blog before then you know that I am part of the StyleTechCraft design team. They have really stepped up their game with this sun changing vinyl. It is so fun to use and it really does change color in the sun. How fun is that?

It works perfectly on these metal wine glasses I picked up for $3 each at the Target Dollar Spot.

I thought these metal wine glasses with the little bit of color at the bottom were so cute and I knew I wanted to use the sun changing vinyl on them. So I picked up three of them.

They are going to be so perfect in my backyard swinging in my hammock chairs enjoying a cocktail with friends.

Sun Changing Vinyl Metal Wine Glasses

First I need to thank StyleTechCraft for supplying the vinyl for this post. They send us the product we need to create these awesome projects. Last month we used the color changing vinyl that turns colors with cold liquids and I made some really cute Dollar Tree cereal bowls.

You can follow them on Facebook and see the projects and new vinyl products when they are released.

If you LOVE Dollar Tree crafts and gifts then you are definitely in the right place.

Step 1: Upload your design into Cricut Design Space

I have had the flip flop SVG file for a while and I am pretty sure I found it on designbundles.net. If you don’t find the exact one I am confident you will find a flip flop design that you’ll love.

Bring it into design space and re size to fit your metal wine glasses.

Then choose your text and create “friends & cocktails”. I used a font called “Mainstay”. It is a fun retro font that I got from Creative Fabrica.

I wanted to place all of my colors on the mat and cut just one time. This is how it looked.

Step 2: Cut the design, weed and add transfer tape

Measure the size of the pieces that need to be cut and place them on the mat according the mat measurements shown in your mat preview. You can move and adjust where the designs will be cut on the mat so you can be exact when you place your vinyl pieces.

Since the text is being cut from one color these were placed in a row and a large piece of vinyl was placed below the flip flops.

If you keep all of your designs in one color then you the Cricut machine will not break up the pieces into different mat colors.

I didn’t use any special cut settings. I selected vinyl and then continued with my cut.

Once the shapes and text have been cut, go ahead and weed them and add transfer tape to the top.

Now they are ready to apply to the metal wine glasses.

Step 3: Apply the designs to the metal wine glasses

This is what the metal wine glasses looked like before I started. Aren’t they cute? There is a lid and I got the green and a blue as well. I just love them but I am not sure how insulated they are. Maybe not at all but cute has to count for something. Drink fast and refill…right? LOL

To prep the wine glasses I just washed them with soap and water so they were nice and clean when I applied the viny.

Next make sure the transfer tape is secure.

Remove the backing and apply to the glass.

Once the flip flops are where you like them, remove the transfer tape.

Repeat this process with the text.

Before you apply the vinyl, cut some slits into the transfer tape. This helps to place the text straight on the curved cup.

Adding the text to the wine glass next to the flip flops.

Some of my text went on with a little bubble or a slight fold. When that happened I just peeled that part up very carefully and set it back down to smooth it out.

Step 4: Take them out to the sun with some cocktails!

Before I take them out to show you how gorgeous they are I wanted to show you how they look inside.

After Being In The Sun!
