Cheap Travel Mugs From Dollar Tree

Three silver dollar tree travel mugs with pumpkin spice sayings made from orange vinyl.

These $1 –16 oz stainless steel travel mugs are perfect for adding vinyl.   This is exactly what I did with some new pumpkin spice designs for fall!  The designs are available in my resource library.

Three plain silver and black dollar tree travel mugs.

I am sure these travel mugs are not the insulated, wonderful mugs that keep the coffee warm for hours but they are fun none the less and perfect for adding something decorative.

Cutting The Designs

I decided to add some pumpkin spice designs to these guys with my new Cricut Maker.  I am getting more familiar with the Maker now and I like it a lot.

This is a screenshot of my Cricut Design Space. You can get these designs in the resource library and they are free!

Once I got the designs cut, it was time for weeding and I have to say, this was a bitch.  There were two that did fine and one that really was a pain in my a**!  I finally went into the design after cutting and trying multiple times, to change the font and make it easier to weed.  If you are downloading these designs I did this for you.  If you keep them small it will be a little harder but when they are a little larger things get easier.

Weeding The Designs

This is what helped me.  I used an exacto knife to cut between the lines.  Then I could lift just that section of vinyl without having to peel the entire backing piece at once.

Weeding the excess vinly out.

Eventually I was able to remove all of the background vinyl and was left with just the pieces I wanted.

Then next step was to add transfer tape and then adhere them to the travel mug and remove the transfer paper.

I love the way these cheap little travel mugs turned out.

These were so fun and perfect for taking to a Thanksgiving dinner as a gift for the hostess.  You could even bring the ingredients for some home made pumpkin spice latte made from Dollar Tree ingredients.

Dollar Tree Pumpkin Spice Latte

I thought it would be fun to try to make my own and it really turned out pretty fantastic.

Here are the ingredients I used.  I already had pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice at home so the Dollar Tree brands are not pictured below.  The half and half I used is from Fareway.  My Dollar Tree does not carry half and half but you could use milk instead and I am pretty sure I have seen milk there before.

Hi Shamona,

They are at the Dollar Tree. If you don't have one near you look on dollartree.com. When you purchase online you have to buy larger quantities though. I like them much better than I thought I would. They are actually pretty nice.

Great ways to dress up the travel mugs, Michelle. The tip about using an exacto knife is a good one. These would make great gifts and I love how budget friendly they are!

Thank you Beverly. I think these are great gifts and can be dressed up in so many ways. These mugs did keep the latte hot for quite a while. I was surprised by that.
