Staying Organized And Connected With My Samsung Galaxy GS8

Nowadays I don’t have to worry too much about the hustle and bustle of back to school. My youngest is in his senior year of college and pretty much handles everything on his own. But that doesn’t mean my life isn’t extra busy.
I have been blogging for almost three years and I work a full time job. This, along with keeping track of appointments and such keeps me pretty busy. Ever since smartphones have become a mini computer that most of us can’t live without, I started using mine for just about everything too.
The Samsung Galaxy GS8
I love this phone for staying organized. It is an unlocked phone which means it is compatible with most carriers and you can set it up just the way you like it. You get to choose your carrier, data, services, features and apps. ¹
The GS8 works on multiple carriers, plans and networks so you get to choose. Just make sure you have a compatible SIM card
and you are good to go.²
Samsung is a trusted company with products you can rely on. This phone comes with a standard US limited warranty for peace of mind.³
The phone available online at Walmart.com in Midnight Black, which is what I got or Orchid Gray. You can purchase it easily while at home in your spare time. The Galaxy GS8+ is also available and has an even bigger screen.
A Few More Features
A few more things that really sold me on this phone were:
- water resistant
- wireless charger (sold separately)
- room to grow
I have never dropped my phone in lake or gotten it wet but I have known people who have and it was not pretty.
My phone habits tend to use a lot of battery. Monitoring this and changing my settings as necessary (some of them use a lot of battery) will do a lot but to have a wireless charger is awesome. I already have this and really love to be able to set my phone on it and let it go. It even works with my phone case.
The phone also comes with a place for an extra SD card. The 64G is a ton of space all on its own and I like to move my photos to my laptop but if you needed more room for photo, videos, documents, apps or whatever this is a great feature.
Purchasing online is really easy to do. I just added the GS8 to my cart.
I didn’t have many shipping options but I think that depends upon where you live. But it was free shipping. Yay!
After I ordered I received the Thank You screen with my order number and I was done. Easy peasy.
It arrived on my door step the day they said it would and I was ready to get started.
How I Use My Galaxy GS8
These are my favorite features of the GS8.
As I mentioned earlier my phone is the primary way I keep organized. I do love my paper calendar and I use it too but it is not as convenient as the phone when you are at the salon trying to book your next appointment. So, for me, putting things on both calendars is the best. Plus, I receive notifications and reminders regarding appointments and post due dates. I need this because as much as I try to remember..I don’t always look ahead.
Being a blogger usually means being connected to social media most of the day. I was able to load my favorite apps onto my GS8 such as:
Pinterest – just to name a few.
Being able to load only the apps I use was a nice feature of this phone. I can check into Facebook and other social media throughout the day to respond to messages and emails.
The Edge Screen
This is another new feature on the GS8 and I find myself using it all of the time. It can be customized with your favorite apps and favorite contacts plus I have added a compass, a ruler, a flashlight, the weather and, of course, my calendar. To get to it go into settings>Display>Edge Screen then turn the edge panel to on (blue). Once you do this you will see the edge panel choices. Just click the round circle above the panels you want. Then add your apps, people, or whatever. It is really easy.
You can edit your customized edge panels anytime by going into your edge panel and clicking on the settings gear icon at the bottom of the screen. This takes you to the panels screen and you can edit.
This is is the compass setting but by clicking the icons at the bottom of the black bar you can switch to the ruler or the flashlight. I have already used the ruler. I was needing to measure some drawer pulls and there it was…the perfect way to measure.
Today’s weather. I love that I can swipe this in the morning to see what I need to wear. It is usually layers here in Iowa.
This is my people edge. I set up the contacts I call and text the most so I don’t have to scroll through my contacts each time. Anything that allows me to save some time is a good thing.
If you are a sports fan there is an edge screen just for sports. All of the edge screens are helpful, useful and time savers.
Having a great camera right at your fingertips all of the time is a great thing. This camera is amazing. It is a 12 mega pixel rear camera. Plus in “pro” mode you can change the aperture, the white balance, ISO and more.
I have been filming Facebook Lives for the last 5 weeks and look at the difference between a week with my old phone and a week with my new GS8. I have not touched up or edited these photos at all. They are screen shots straight from my laptop.
The entire thing is so clear and so much brighter.
With the new infinity screen the picture spans from side to side and seems to wrap around the edges a bit. This has to help with any videos I make and I am thrilled! The Galaxy S8+ has an even bigger, more expansive screen and would be perfect for someone who films or watches a lot of videos or movies on the phone. This short video shows the difference in the screens!
I am still playing with the camera but have loved it so far and can’t wait to get more practice. I think I see some You Tube Videos in my near future.
Bixby is a new feature on the GS8 that allows you to use your voice to command certain things. I have not played it very much but from what I understand Bixby learns as you go and gets better the more you use it. I will learn more about it when I have a little more time.
Keeping It All Together
So these are the features I love and use to help me stay organized and keep me from losing my mind. I love being connected, most of the time, and I really like having my phone with me at all times. It may get annoying to my friends and family but they do like it when they can reach me.
What kind of phone do you have? Let me know!
If you like it, be sure to pin it!
