Hi everyone and welcome back. It is officially St. Pat’s week here in Emmetsburg and we started it off with a huge snow storm. This happens every so often but we press on. I have a few more themed projects this week starting with today’s Lucky St Patrick’s Day Chalkboard.
If you haven’t seen the other St. Patrick’s Day ideas you can always go back and check them out by clicking the links below.

Today’s project is so easy and can be done in an afternoon!
Lucky St Patrick’s Day Chalkboard
Supplies Needed: I have included affiliate links for you convenience. You can read my full disclosure here.
Gold Dollar Store Charger Plate
Small Paint Brush and/or Small Paint roller
Sandpaper
Not all of the supplies are shown in this picture but you can see which roller, brush and paint I used.
The Process
The first step is to use a little bit of sandpaper and rough up the part of the charger plate you will be painting. I did not do this and think it would have helped a little later in the project.
Paint your first coat of chalkboard paint onto the inner circle of the plate and let it dry. Add a second coat and let it dry.
When the second coat of chalkboard paint is completely dry use a piece of chalk, place it on it’s side and rub it over the entire chalkboard area. Be careful as the chalk will scratch your paint off.
I think if I would have used the sandpaper before painting mine would not have scratched so bad.
Wipe the chalk off with a slightly damp cloth.
Your Design
Pinterest always has good ideas so I turned to it to find a fun design. The simple, one word designs, stood out to me and I thought the word “Lucky” would be perfect. Using the Chalkboard Fine Tip Marker, I drew the word onto the plate. It doesn’t have to be perfect and you can always wipe off the chalk and start over if you don’t like it.
Cut out shamrock stickers using vinyl from the Silhouette Cameo machine or use purchased stickers if you don’t have a cutting machine.
Place the stickers onto the plate to add some green and some detail. I placed mine over the scratches in the paint I created when using the chalk. It all worked out!
Finishing Up
When you are happy with your design place the plate onto an easel for display. In my supplies I linked to some easels on Amazon but Hobby Lobby usually has them on sale quite a bit or you can use your 40% off coupon.
I just love the way it turned out and it adds some much needed gold color to my St. Patrick’s Day decor.
What do you think? I love that it was so easy and adds a little lucky charm to my decor.
Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Love, love the lucky plate you made. I think the town should visit your home as you have a parade of St. Patrick's Day decorations to share.
