You all know I have been working on my St. Patrick’s Day decor and today’s post focuses on designing and creating home decor using your DIY designs or photos.
I have been lucky enough to partner with Shutterfly to create my own canvas wall art and throw pillow. This post contains affiliate links and Shutterfly supplied the products for this post. All opinions are 100% my own! You can read my full disclosure here.
I want to build up my St. Pat’s decor for the house so I decided to focus on a few more items. Shutterfly has so many items it was hard to choose but I finally decided on the canvas wall art and a throw pillow because they would fit nicely with the look I wanted. Now I needed some photos or a DIY design of my own.
Canvas Wall Art
Creating your own DIY design is easy. There are several programs that allow you to use photos or shapes and text to make a design. This design can then be uploaded to the Shutterfly website as part of your personalized decor.
The canvas wall I art I made is a 10 x 14 canvas. There are different choices for layout such as landscape or portrait, framed edges or no framed edges and whether or not you like a white or black background, etc. This is all part of the design process that makes it so fun.
I designed this Eat, Drink & Be Irish sign in Photoshop Elements but Pic Monkey and Canva are two free programs that allow editing of photos and creating your own designs.
This is my fun St. Patrick’s Day creation for my canvas wall art. I used a textured background and split it into three pieces to create a wood look then found a couple of great fonts and some shamrocks. What do you think?
Throw Pillow
The pillow was designed the same way. I loved the “shake your shamrock” saying so I used it and some shamrocks to create my own DIY design. When I first uploaded it to the Shutterfly site it was a bit large and did not fit onto the 16×16 pillow. I went back into the program, reduced the entire image and re-uploaded to the site. Sometimes there is a bit of shifting of sizes but in the end you can preview your design and see what it will look like as the final product.
The only part of the pillow design process I did not like was the background color. Don’t get me wrong, I love my pillow but I had a hard time matching the back of the pillow which they call Ivory to the front of the pillow which is the color on my design. It turned out a little more Ivory than I wanted but it was hard to tell. Other than that the entire process was…well…just fun!
The Final Look
Here are the photos of my final products. I just love the way they pull my St. Patrick’s Day decor all together.
And there you have it! A fun display with my own DIY designs. I love it! You can also see my St. Patrick’s Day mason jars and my St. Patrick’s Day burlap and ribbon wreath in this photo.

OMG I doubt that with all of the St. Pat's decorators in the Burg but thanks so much for the vote of confidence. That is why we are best buds!
