Create these fun and super easy DIY Wine Cork Ornaments this year for yourself or as a small gift for others. They are great on packages too!

Hi friends and welcome to Day 1 of the 12 Days Of Christmas Blog Hop.  For the next 12 days I will have a different Christmas post for you.  I have teamed up with about 49 other bloggers so you will have a ton of inspiration.

These blog hops take a lot of work to plan and put together so thanks to Shirley at Intelligent Domestications for planning and doing all of the heavy lifting for us.

Day 1 is all about DIY ornaments.  I decided to make DIY Wine Cork Ornaments.  They are very similar to my wine cork key chain so you know they are easy as can be.

DIY Wine Cork Ornaments

There are a few supplies needed for this project. Most of them are small things but all come together to create these fun ornaments.

  • Wine Corks
  • Washers (2 sizes)
  • Eye Hooks
  • Jump Rings
  • Head Pins
  • Beads
  • Charms
  • Bakers Twine
  • Tacky Glue

Step 1:

Glue your washers to the ends of the cork.  Start with the larger washer.  I love this tacky glue.  Jeff had it and I really didn’t think it would work but it worked really well!

Then add the smaller washer over the larger one.

Step 2:

Add the screw eye hooks.  These just get screwed into the cork on each end.

Step 3:

On the bottom, add your bead and charms.  You may have to add a jump ring to the charm and create a hook with the head pin for the bead.

Step 4:

Add some bakers twine or you could add and ornament hook to hang it on the tree.

You are all done.  These are so fun and easy.  They make great tags for gifts too.

Michelle, could you give me a little more detail on Step #3? I don't understand how you get the beads or charms on the ring. Thank you!

Hi Diane. After you add the eyelet there is a metal piece that you can add the charms and beads to. The charms usually already have a jump ring and if not you can easily add one then use some pliers to to open the jump ring, hook it onto the eyelet then close it back up.

Thank you Michelle for sharing your tutorial with us. I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own and have gotten close, but not just right until I came across yours. I’m looking forward to making these with my granddaughters. Blessings, LJ

What two sizes for the washers?

Michelle

Wednesday 5th of December 2018

Hi! The larger washer is 3/4 inch and the smaller one is 1/2 inch. I usually take my cork with me to the hardware store and find two sizes that I like best.

This is so clever! I am always hoarding wine corks for crafts, but ornaments never occurred to me! Nicely done!
