I am back today with a step by step tutorial and a short video to create a handmade birthday card. I am having fun with these tutorials and videos and I hope you are too. This card, as always, is simple, fun and easy!
Handmade Birthday Card
I am including some affiliate links to products I love and use all of the time and to the paper in the card if I can find a link for you. This is for your convenience. If you like something you don’t have to search all over the place for it. It is right here for you. You can read my full disclosure here.
Supplies Needed:
White Card Stock 8.5 x 11 size – I purchase this in bulk
Three different, coordinating patterned papers – I used this collection from American Crafts Studio Calico. It comes as a large 12×12 48 pack and a smaller 6×6 pack that would work great for these size pieces. These are from the same pack I used last time for the handmade tag card.
Background piece – 4 x 5.25
Two square pieces – 3 x 3 each
Skinny white piece – 5.25 x .5
Flower Embellishments – Solid color and a fun pattern design
Black Ink for stamping – This Archival ink is my favorite!
Scissors
Happy Birthday Stamp that will fit on the skinny white piece
Instructions
These instructions are assuming you have already cut the pieces to the sizes listed above.
Step 1 – Fold the white card base (5.5 x 8.5) in half and set aside
Step 2 – Ink the edges of all of the smaller pieces – background piece, two squares and the skinny white piece
Step 3 – Using the adhesive glue the first square piece onto the background piece in the lower right corner leaving about 1/2 inch border in the corner
Step 4 – Adhere the second square piece to the background piece in the upper left corner leaving the same amount of boarder in the corner. This will overlap the first square.
Step 5 – Use the Happy Birthday stamp and the black archival ink to stamp the sentiment across the skinny white piece. I like to start in the middle then finish the edges. The ink will “bleed” off the edges so be sure to use a scrap paper underneath so you don’t stamp on a your nice table surface.
Step 6 – Adhere the skinny white piece over the top of the background piece about an inch from the bottom. It should overlap both of the square pieces.
Step 7 – Use the brad to hold the two flowers together. Then use a glue dot to adhere it to the card. You can place it where ever you like but I put it just in the corner where the two square pieces meet at the top of the card.
Step 8 – Glue this entire background piece to the white card base!
Step 9 – Admire your awesome handmade birthday card! Nice job.
