Today we are going to learn about the shape tool in Photoshop Elements. This is the fifth video in my Photoshop Elements learning series. You can find the previous videos by clicking the links below.
Using The Shape Tool in Photoshop Elements 8
The shape tool is used to create different shapes. Photoshop Elements comes with a lot of shapes already in the program so there are many to choose from such as arrows, flowers and foliage, circles, stars, banners, awards and more.
Many times I use several shapes together to create a more difficult shape. It is fun to play with this tool and see what you come up with. You can also change the color and add drop shadows. I will show you how to add and change drop shadows in next’s weeks video so be sure to stop back.
All of these videos are short (less than 5 minutes) so you learn just one element of the program at a time. After you watch, play with it on your own and make something fun! This is how you learn a program. Like they used to say, “practice makes perfect”.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will now start practicing the shape tool on your projects. I use the shape tool a lot and it really comes in handy when you are creating scrapbook pages or elements to be used on different things. As I mentioned in the video we will use this same talk bubble and move it onto a photo or a scrapbook page so you can see how it all comes together.
This is how you start to design you own elements and it is super fun!
If you do not have Photoshop Elements I will give you a link below to purchase the latest version, 13. This is an affiliate link. So if you click on it and make a purchase I will receive a small commission. You can read my full disclosure here!
When you click on the link Amazon will show you the most current price at the time. Today, September 16, 2015 I noticed it was $54.99. That is about $20 less than it usually is and about $45 less than the regular price so if you are thinking about it please check it out.
I do love this program and I use it daily. I don’t have 13 so I cannot tell you the differences between what I am using and the newest version but I know that with each upgrade usually comes some nice added features. You can find videos on You Tube about the newest version and see if it would be something you would like.
Don’t forget to subscribe to my You Tube Channel. You can do this by clicking on the You Tube icon at the top of this post or in the sidebar. And share with a friend or two if you think they would be interested in learning Photoshop Elements.
Thanks for stopping by.
